Welcome to Reading Club!
Welcome! I am happy to be a part of your child's learning team. As a Reading Specialist, it is my mission to help every child reach their potential as a reader and writer. I strive to develop:
- eager readers who are excited to choose, read, and talk about books
- skilled readers who use their "toolbox" of strategies
- aware readers who think critically about what they read and see literacy as a key to connect with the world
A little about Reading Club: The main program we use is called Leveled Literacy Intervention, or LLI. It is a popular program used throughout the US. The lessons include reading books together, a comprehension conversation, and phonics activities. Students are first assessed to find their individual reading level then instructed to progress through more difficult levels. The overall goal is to catch up students to be reading independently at grade-level. Each Reading Club group has 1-4 total students.
