See you then!

I have attached the schedule and the instructions to access FlipGrid.

Winter Music Performance

Please come and join us at Soleado  on
Monday, December 18 from 9:00 to 9:30.
Ms. Jimenez, our music teacher has been working with the first graders to learn some holiday songs.
Students are encouraged to wear festive clothing.
The performance will be in the MPR.

Dance Performance

Dear Parents,
On Wednesday, November 15, you are invited to come to Soleado and watch your child perform  dances they have been learning over the past few weeks.

The performance will start at 10:00 am.  Currently we will be performing on the black top and welcome you to sit on the Rainbow Benches.

We are blessed to have Ms. Miller teaching the first graders   a variety of rich dance traditions from around the world. They have  explored basic movement
(axial and locomotor), rhythm, the Elements of Dance as well as listening  to music  enjoying dance through movements with their bodies.

The first grade teachers are asking students to wear a white top and black bottoms ( pants or skirts).  For Chicos 1, if your child has a bandana, please bring that as well.

Thank you!
See you on Wednesday.
Sincerely,
Lisa Turner

Art At Your Finger Tips October 20

Our next project is scheduled for Friday,  December 1. I hope you can join us!

Dear Parents,
October 20 will be our first At At Your Finger Tips art project.
This program is based on volunteers/parents who help in the classroom.
Volunteers help with set up, clean up and assist by guiding the students during the lesson.  If you are working in the classroom with students, you do need to be cleared first by the office.

For tomorrow's project, we currently only have the teacher leader and 1 volunteer. Usually, there are about 6 parents volunteering.   If you can, join us tomorrow, please due.
If you can't tomorrow, work on being cleared for the next project.
Thank you
Sincerely,
Lisa Turner

The Art At Your Fingertips (AAYF) program is a partnership between the Palos Verdes Art Center (PVAC) and schools located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.  Each year, PVAC selects original works of art from local artists and trains school parents on how to work with students to recreate the paintings in their classrooms.  Students learn about art history, technique, colors, and different mediums for artistic expression.  Soleado is proud to participate in this outstanding program each year.

Sign Up Genius

Dear Parents,
I just set up volunteer information with sign up genius.
If a previous child was in my class and you used their name, it may show up as your older child's name as it matches to a previous email. Sorry!   I can't change it.  I only  put in parent emails and no student names.

International Dot Day was created to encourage people of all ages to harness their creativity. The inspiration behind the event is the children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. It relates the tale of a teacher who challenges one of his female pupils to take courage in her abilities and from a dot on a page the youngster goes on to make her mark.

This year International Dot Day is Friday, September 15.

For this weeks Family Project, your child should place the black dot anywhere on the white paper.  He/She should then create something.  The rest of the family can also help decorate this page.
Thank you!
Lisa Turner
Please bring in your creation on Friday which is International Dot Day.

Here is the schedule for Thursday, September 7

Classroom Supplies

Thank you to those of you who have already taken this opportunity to purchase your school supplies through our optional School Supply Program! We have been able to purchase supplies for ALL students, so it's NOT TOO LATE to get your order in to receive your supplies by the first week of school! For this one set price, your child will receive ALL of their school supplies for the entire school year--no need to hunt for all of the things on your teacher's list, or worry about replenishing items during the year. This cost will also help cover the classroom supplies teachers use regularly like specialty paper, markers, folders, art materials, etc.
As mentioned last year, the order form has transitioned to an online form and the cost is $80.  Click the link below to submit your information and payment.

The current supply lists are posted on the school website if you elect to purchase them on your own. Remember, your contribution to this OPTIONAL program helps support additional materials teachers are able to provide outside of the traditional School Supplies listed online.
