My name is River Fay.  I have been teaching in PVPUSD since 1999 and spent 21 years as a first-grade teacher before taking the position of Reading Specialist.  This year, I will split my time between two schools - Silver Spur and Soleado.  I hold a B.A. from UC Santa Barbara and a Multiple Subject CLAD teaching credential from CSU Dominguez Hills.  While teaching first grade, I found that I really enjoyed teaching reading, so I then obtained an M.A. in English-Language Arts and a Reading Specialist credential from CSU Long Beach.  I have previously taught reading and math intervention, as well as private classes in reading and writing.  I have also served on many curriculum committees for PVPUSD and as a mentor for new teachers.  I love watching kids learn and observing how they internalize new information.  I am so excited to be working in my chosen field and to help make a difference in the progress of young readers!
