fun run 2020

Soleado Families,

You are doing such an amazing job!  Ms. Turner's class is at 51% of our goal.  A few students have not yet registered.  Any donation you make helps support wonderful programs at Soleado.

We are now over 60% of the way to our goal of $40,000 raised during the Fun Run pledge period. This money goes to support so many amazing programs that our children benefit from every day.

The Fun Run is coming up on Monday 3/9 and pledges will be accepted until the following Monday 3/16. Be sure to share your child's private link with friends and family. You can find all the information you need at our school Fun Run website.

There are great incentives for participants at all levels. If we reach 75% of our goal, the entire school will benefit from a BMX assembly! If we get to 100% we will slime Mrs. Marcus and the Coaches!!

 On Monday

  • Your child should be dressed in comfortable athletic attire and shoes.

  • Your child should bring a water bottle.

  •  Fun Run shirts and pre-ordered lunch tickets will be distributed in the morning. (There will be no day-of Subway orders. The cafeteria will still be available to buy lunch)

  •  All runners will be on the field at 10:50 to be ready to go at 11:00.

  •  K-2 will head over for lunch from their cool down area at about 11:30.

  • 3-5 will head over for lunch from their cool down area at about 11:40.

  •  Students will return to their classrooms around 12:45

  • (TK & Kinder will go in earlier to prepare for dismissal.)

Thank you to those parents who have signed up to volunteer. We will email you more information before Monday.

You can still sign up to volunteer by clicking and filling out this form.

Parents are encouraged to come to cheer on their children and stay and join their children for lunch. If you choose to take your child home after lunch, but before their dismissal time, be sure to sign them out at their classroom.

Soleado International Fair

The annual International Fair is Friday, January 17th. Food will be available for students to try at some of the booths. If you DO NOT want your child to have any of the food our your child has any allergies, please let me know by Friday morning. Also, if your child does have allergies, please speak with them Friday morning and remind them not to eat any of the food being offered. Thanks for your help!

Halloween parade
Please join us on Thursday, October 31st at 9:00am for the Soleado Halloween Parade.
After the parade, First Grade Parents are invited to join us for the First Grade Halloween Sing.  We will be  performing on the black top area near Vista Building.
Just a reminder that students should come to school with their costumes on. Once the parade and the Halloween sing are over, students will change back into regular clothes for the rest of the day.  Please provide your child with a bag and extra clothes to wear.  If you join us for the Halloween Sing, my suggestions is that parents take  costumes home, so that nothing is lost for Halloween night.
Thank you!

good will
Dear Parents,
Every year, my rule/suggestion is for your children to place their jacket, sweater, hat, and/or sweatshirt IN their backpack.  I remind them it should not be next to their backpack or on the shelf but IN THEIR BACKPACK .   Unfortunately, some of your children choose to do otherwise.
Last year, Soleado donated at least 9 large garbage bags filled with unclaimed, left behind clothes.   I know that you all pay good money for these items.  Please work with your children to make responsible choices.  May I also suggest that you write your child's name on their items.
Have a great weekend.
Ms. Turner

Math in Focus

Math in Focus
Here is some information about Chapter 1 from our Math program.
The end of Chapter 1 math assessment will be on Monday, September 23.
Please review the Chapter review assessment  with your child.  It went home today, September 19, 2019.
International Dot Day is staged to encourage people of all ages to harness their creativity. The inspiration behind the event is the children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. It relates the tale of a teacher who challenges one of his female pupils to take courage in her abilities and from a dot on a page the youngster goes on to make her mark.
For this weeks Family Project, your child should place the black dot anywhere on the white paper.  He/She should then create something.  The rest of the family can also help decorate this page.
Thank you!
